Yet another interesting interview on UFC.com. This time they talk to Jorge Gurgel, a TUF2 competitor, and he explains some of his life experiences.

If you watched season 2 of The Ultimate Fighter, he was the short hispanic fireball on the show. You have also seen him in Rich Franklin’s corner.

My respect for the man went up 200% after reading the interview and it is definitely a must read. I think my favorite quote from the interiew is:

Freedom is the most underrated thing in the world. Having your own freedom and independence and deciding what to do and making it on your own is priceless. I didn’t want any handouts from anybody. But it wasn’t as bad as it sounds. I was embarrassed because I was a 22 year old guy and the girls in the restaurant would look at me and my brother taking leftovers home so we can eat, and we shared a beat up Mazda Protégé, but I was always happy.

You have to respect a man like that. He doesn’t want free handouts. He wants to be self-sufficient and he knows what he wants.
