The UFC President talks about the future of PRIDE and the changes being made.

MMA Weekly has pretty extensive coverage on UFC President Dana White’s comments about the future of PRIDE during the pre-UFC 70 teleconference.

Below are a few highlights from the teleconference:

When asked about the recent statements from Shogun’s camp that Shogun has a contract for two fights in Pride and two fights in the UFC, White said, “I don’t know where that’s coming from, but it’s not true."

When a reporter asked about Wanderlei Silva’s status as a free agent, White said that Silva is not a free agent and that he has four fights remaining on his Pride contract.

When asked about the status of Pride Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko, who recently stated that he is not under contract to Pride, White said that Fedor is indeed under contract to Pride, but added, “It’s a non-exclusive contract, and I don’t do non-exclusive contracts."

Ugh, this MMA Superbowl has got me so excited I can’t even stand it. I wonder when they’ll announce exactly when it’ll take place....maybe sometime in December before the new year?

Don’t count on it. Dana has repeatedly said that it is at least a year away....

D.W. is unusual in that he is plain spoken about Pride and UFC. Obviously there are “wrinkles” to be ironed out and he has plans to smooth them all in the near future.

He is refreshing in his honesty and that usually causes problems in todays society. It seems that today, at times, the truth doesn’t set you free, it causes problems.

I look forward to seeing how all these issues work out.
