We bring a special guest onto the show, Zach Arnold of FightOpinion fame, to help us out with the news as well as preview the IFL Semi-Finals that will be fought on August 2nd. Savant Young, who is on the card and fights for the Tokyo Sabres, takes some time out his busy schedule to talk with Komikazee about his plans and a little about his past.

Karl "Gotch" Istaz Dead at 83

  • "God of Pro Wrestling"
  • Very accomplished amateur wrestler
  • Shoot / Catch ????
  • Studied under famous Catch wrestler Billy Riley in Wigan, England in the 1950's
    • Riley's gym is the place to be if you were serious about the style.
  • Pro wrestled as Karl Gotch in the US
    • Taking the name after Frank Gotch, America's first well known catch wrestler
  • While he did draw thousands to his matches, Karl left the US once pro wrestling promoters wanted to promote flash over athletics.
  • Pro wrestled in Japan until he retired.
  • Taught Catch to well known names like Nobuhiku Takada, Yoshiaki Fujiwara and Akira Maeda.
    • All three became the forefathers of the Japanese MMA scene
  • Spent the rest of his days as a consultant on Catch and fitness techniques
    • several fighters and pro wrestlers have been trained by Gotch. Including Josh Barnett

*sigh* The preview got blown out of the water with all the news on hurt fighters. Both Jamal Patterson and Erik Owings were hurt sparring with Daniel Gracie.

This doesn’t hurt them as much as the Horodecki / Hieron injuries of the Anacondas because I was expecting Erik Owings to lose to Savant but having Jamal out is going to be rough.
