UFC Grudge Match, Take 2

It’s official folks, the grudge match is back on… and somebody is going out in a body bag.

I’ll kill the suspense. Ken Shamrock is fighting Tito Ortiz YET AGAIN. This time it will be FREE! Yes, they are fighting on October 10th, Spike TV, Ultimate Fight Night Live...

Ken and Tito ABSOLUTELY HATE EACH OTHER. Consider it the grudge match of grudge matches. Ken thinks Tito is a punk. Tito thinks Ken is a crotchety old man. They are like oil and water. They literally almost brawled multiple times on live TV during the taping of TUF3. This isn’t WWE. This is no stage acting. They have a genuine dislike for each other that makes two grown men act like teenage bullies fighting over a girl. They hate each other so much, they are willing to fight for free. Now that is hate.

I said bodybag and I meant it. Their last fight was stopped in the first round because the fight before theirs was a blood bath (literally) and the referee’s were nervous. So a little way into the first round of Ken vs. Tito, Herb Dean pulls Tito off Ken because Ken “failed to defend himself”.

Everybody booed and I know the Furtada brothers (the owners of UFC) were ticked because that was their main event and to go out in a bogus manner like that does not bode well for happy customers. So someone is going to get “brained” because there is no way that the next referee is going to call anything short of a knockout.

I for one do not advocate letting people beat each other senseless or to a pulp, but at least give the match time to develop. Plus, you have to factor in the hatred these guys truly share and under those special circumstances, let them bring their own bodybags.
