UFC 75 Conference Call Notes

by: hudsonmma

UFC 74 has barely been laid to rest and already we are talking about UFC 75 on September 8th.HudsonMMA was on the phone asking the questions for you guys. Here are the highlights of the conference call for UFC 75.

Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral has been let go from the UFC.

No word on who will next challenge for the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles but Dana White says Shogun in already a contender.  Additionally, should Fedor be signed to the UFC by the end of this year, he would receive an immediate title shot against Randy Couture early next year.  White confirmed that Randy Couture’s arm was broken by a high kick from Gonzaga in the first round of last Saturday’s UFC 74 title bout.

Dan Henderson’s wife gave birth to a baby girl last night.

Henderson says he has given no thought to his next opponent, nor has he determined at which weight class he will fight next.  White said that Henderson is still number 1 or 2 in the world at 185 lbs and could possibly fight for the UFC middleweight title after one fight at 185.

There is no physical belt representing the unified title, per se, meaning the winner of Rampage/Henderson is likely to wear the UFC belt.

On Josh Barnett: “Nobody gives a sh*t about Josh Barnett, especially me.”

Says Brock Lesnar is the only one of the “WWE guys” that he takes seriously because he is strong and a talented wrestler who, White believes, can transition to MMA.

Dana White says he has spoken to Denis Kang, and while Kang is “talented” he is not one of the “biggest stars” to come out of Pride.  But White stated that he would be interested in having Kang in the UFC.

Rampage says he had a good training camp at Big Bear and that he trained with Brandon Vera, Cheik Kongo, and Michael Bisping.

White says the problem with Pride in Japan are “more complicated” than people know and that Pride can’t run in Japan without a TV deal.
