Notes from the IFL Press Conference - NYC 7/30/07

by: hudsonmma

Komikazee MMA attended an IFL dinner press conference today and we bring you sundry notes about the upcoming semi-final matches.

Renzo Gracie is waiting to hear if his light heavyweight Jamal Patterson, who has a torn ACL, will be able to fight on Thursday.  Gracie has a replacement in mind.  A Brazilian fighter who is competing in Brazil tonight.  But it is not certain that a passport will come through in time for Patterson’s replacement to fight in the semi-finals.

Gracie’s lightweight, Erik Owings, is nursing a shoulder injury and may also be unable to compete.  Should that be the case, his replacement will be Deividas Taurosevicius, who has previously represented the Pitbulls in a preliminary bout in Uncasville, CT on 4/13/07.  Taurosevicius scored a first round submission over Zac George of the Dragons.

The Anaconda’s replacement lightweight Adam DiSabato, has himself been replaced.  The reason for the switch is unknown.  Harris Sarmiento, is now listed at http://www.ifl.tv, as facing Bart Palaszewski of the Silverbacks.

The Grand Prix championship belt was shown at the press conference.  The surface of the belt has a snakeskin pattern and there were crystals embedded on the belt.  You really kind of have to see it for yourself.  Um…ok.
