The Army is holding a Mixed Martial Arts tournament that will feature a cage and will run Friday to Sunday April 27th - 29th.
This marks the first time the armed forces have used a cage in a martial arts tournament and really points towards the popularity of the UFC and MMA in general with the younger crowd. The tournament is open to any soldier on the Fort Knox base as long as they are combat level 1 certified or have prior MMA experience.
Weigh-in begins at 9 a.m. Friday, and preliminary matches start at 9 a.m. Saturday. The finals will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. All events will be at Sadowski Field House at Fort Knox.
Those who do impress the judges and organizers will get a shot at representing Fort Knox at the all-Army combatives tournament in November at Fort Benning, Ga.
