Brandon “The Truth” Vera is an exciting young heavyweight in the UFC ranks who has made some poor choices. He was seen courting Elite XC and even went on the record with his courtship. It was even mentioned at one time that the aforementioned EXC was willing to possibly pay him 1 million+ a fight.
Needless to say, the powers-that-be at the UFC were less than pleased with their rising star. He still had 1 fight left on his contract with them AND the UFC doesn’t react nicely when their key players start throwing other organizations in their proverbial face. Hence the lack of any mention of Vera’s name since his last fight in November.
Looks like Brandon is getting his act together and has apparently fired his management company. Here was a cryptic message that he posted on the Sherdog forums.
"When someone lies to you… it becomes a fu*ked up thing. Then they start talking sh*t about your cuz thier wrong? It becomes something else. It is what it is… I’ve left City and am in process with the CSAC for my managerial contract. I WILL be fighting soon, and it WILL be a good one. Hope everyone the best. Yeah.......... I’m training."The UFC has responded in kind to the moves Brandon has made and have granted him an extension on the time period for his last fight while he gets things in order in his camp. He was slated to fight his last fight in May. There have been plenty of times that bad advice has led to a tragic end in a young fighters promising career. I am just glad that Brandon has straightened his own ship and gotten back on course.
